Posted on 23 Feb 2013 by Administrator
Dear Samaj Bandhavas and Bhaginis
Since I last wrote to you, there has been a notable event which was celebrated on 19th and 20th January at Bangalore Shri Kashi Math. Your Samaj together with the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy (a Govt. of Karnataka body) conducted a two day Konkani drama festival and which was inaugurated by Dr.P Dayananda Pai. You would already have seen the details of the programme as well as the photographs of the function on your website. Those of you who participated in the function would surely agree that it was and enjoyable and memorable experience.
Konkani is unique in that it is the mother tongue not only of Gowda Saraswats, Chitrapur Saraswats, Daivajnas, Kudumbis among Hindus but also of the catholic Christians and Navayat Muslims. Sri Kasargod Chinna the present President of the Academy has infused new dynamism in its working. In his presidential speech, the producer of the path breaking Konkani film Ujwaadu, exhorted the people to develop the habit of writing in Konkani in addition to speaking it. There is certainly a crying need for good Konkani literature, poetry, lyrics and plays.
The audience enjoyed the dramas presented in all the three styles viz. Konkani Catholics, Konkani GSB and Chitrapur Saraswat Konkani. KONKANI NAKSHATRA awards were presented to Sri Ramachandra Kodange, Smt. Geetha R Nayak, Sri Walter Dsouza and Sri Jogi Nagraj Shet in literature and drama. GSS Samaj congratulates all the award winners and wishes them many more laurels in the future. A notable feature of the festival was a half day seminar on the past, present and future of Konkani drama and literature where over 90 eminent active workers in the field participated. Our Samaj is proud to have participate actively in the festival.
Madhwa Navami is being celebrated on Tuesday the 19th Feb at Bangalore Shri Kashi Math. Acharya Madhwa of the 13th century regarded as an incarnation of Vayudeva, infused new dynamism in Hindu tradition upholding particularly the need for people to engage themselves in acts and actions which are pleasing to the Lord and which are offered as a service to Him. He was also responsible for fostering the Bhakthi Movement.
You would be happy to note that the forthcoming Chaturmasya Vrita of H H Srimad Samyamindra Swamiji will be held in Bangalore Shri Kashi Math. Our Samaj in Bangalore will have the unique opportunity of witnessing Pooja to Sri Vyasa Raghupathi for the first time in Bangalore after the reinstallation .
Gowda Saraswata Mahila Vrinda is celebrating the silver jubilee of their establishment on 2nd and 3rd March at Bangalore Shri Kashi Math. GSS Samaj congratulates the Mahila Vrinda on completing 25 eventful years and wishes them a bright future. We invite them to make full use of our website for all their activities.
With my personal regards to you all
